WHAT IS THE MAUI SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT COUNCIL ( MSEC ) ?

The Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) is a private non - profit organization created to attract major sports, sports groups and entertainment events to Maui and now to the 9^th Island, Las Vegas, NV. The expressed mission of the Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) “ to establish Maui as the Sports & Entertainment Capital of the Pacific “.  The primary goal of the Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) is to use sports events, entertainment events and entertainment related meetings as an economic development tool by promoting Maui & Las Vegas as a premier destination to hold first class events of a sports and entertainment related nature.

WHAT DOES THE MAUI SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT COUNCIL (MSEC ) DO ?

1). Establish on - going relationships with International, National and Local governing bodies of sports , sports groups and entertainment in order to market Maui as a desirable destination to hold sporting and entertainment events.

2). Help ensure that appropriate marketing, organizational, administrative and volunteer support organizations are in place to enhance the ultimate success of these events.

3). Work in cooperation with strategic partners to strengthen Maui’s and Las Vegas’s sports and entertainment industries hereby enhancing the economic well-being and quality of life for Maui & Las Vegas residents. The Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) is charged with the development of amateur, professional, recreational sports. Musical and cultural opportunities that will help develop a thriving sports and entertainment industry and environment.

4). Promote and market Maui County & Clark County on the mainland to bring sporting and entertainment activities to the County’s.

5). Enhance the economic impact to the County’s with these events.

6). Maximize utilization of our facilities.

7). Stimulate room nights, primarily in the off-season.

8). Foster and support grassroots sports and entertainment development.

  WHY ARE THESE EVENTS IMPORTANT TO MAUI & LAS VEGAS ?

Sports and entertainment have always been an important part of American life. Organized games have been in effect for centuries. This competitive spirit and the pursuit of excellence embodied by sports and entertainment are an important aspect of what made this country and Hawaii great. Sports and entertainment also unite citizenry and fill them with pride. These events cross all economic, ethnic and racial barriers to help create a sense of community and enhance the quality of life for the residents of the areas where sports and entertainment events are held. More importantly, hosting sports and entertainment events realize tremendous economic benefits and community pride. Participants and spectators that come to attend sporting and entertainment events create a very positive economic impact for the area. They stay in hotels, eat in restaurants, rent cars, purchase groceries and souvenirs.

  GOALS OF THE MAUI SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT COUNCIL ( MSEC ) ?

1. Working to enhance the current events that take place on Maui and in Las Vegas.

2. Being selective in seeking other events that meet specific criteria. The Council’s goal is to add another sports or entertainment event yearly ( if feasible ) for the Maui and or Las Vegas area..

3. Maintaining financial stability and diversity of funding sources while creating new revenue streams to help generate additional funding.

4. A  minimum of $200,000 event bid fund to attract more sports and entertainment events and also to maintain the current events.

5. Establish a national and international effort to market Maui and Las Vegas as a prime sports and entertainment destination while enhancing its organizational marketing efforts locally through business - to - business activities.

  HOW TO GET INVOLVED ?

  The efforts of the Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) will only be successful with strong corporate and community support. Forming “ partnerships “ among all segments of the community and developing strong alliances between every sector, corporate sponsors, local businesses and grass roots organizations is essential to the success and long - term viability of the Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ). Supporting these events and the efforts of the Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) provides a variety of opportunities to get involved with something for everyone.

The Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) is a private non - profit organization that enriches Maui through sports and entertainment. Its mission is to generate economic benefit and enhance the quality of life for Maui’s residents through sports and entertainment events, national and international promotion, local awareness, amateur sports development and youth programs.

The Maui Sports & Entertainment Council ( MSEC ) has an 11 member board and an Executive Director made up of community members from the sports, entertainment, and business sector.

We are seeking individuals and corporations to partner in our efforts and make a difference.
